Many, many thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday yesterday. I had one of the best days I’ve had in a long time – both birthdays and days as a whole. And it was filled with many surprises!
Surprise #1: homemade cinnamon sugar muffins free of gluten, dairy, and hydrogenated oils. That was a great way to start off the day!
Surprise #2: free iced coffee. My sister works at a cafe/coffee shop and went to work in the morning, but they ended up giving her the morning off. So not only did I get more time with her, but she brought me back an iced coffee!
Surprise #3: tickets to go on a tour of (drumroll please ) …. FENWAY PARK
It was a beautiful and bright June day, and we walked all the way around the park. Let me tell you, there are a LOT of stairs. Our tour guide had so much to say, though, we were able to stop and rest on a regular basis. Thank goodness!
As a part of the tour, we even saw the 2004 and 2007 World Series rings!
Surprise #4: a message from the Israeli desert. Yes, you read that right. My boyfriend is currently on a CULP deployment with the US Army in Israel, as he is Army ROTC, and this past week he has been in the desert without Internet or cell phone coverage. I didn’t think I would have any contact with him on my birthday, but he was able to bum some hotspot coverage off of someone and send me a message. That was a wonderful surprise, but one I don’t have a picture for.
Even if those surprises hadn’t happened, it would have been an excellent day.
Reason #1: One of my best friends, the Cristina to my Meredith, the Oprah to my Gayle, came into town to help me celebrate.
|Yay! Sean is here!
I’m on the left, Sean is on the right.
Reason #2: We had tickets to the Sox vs. Rangers game.
And these were our seats. I’m not zoomed in at all – that is how close we were to the field.
Reason #3: And since we were there early enough …
DON’T MIND ME I’M JUST FREAKING OUT BECAUSE I’M STANDING AT THE DUGOUT AND THAT’S THE FIELD AND THOSE ARE THE RED SOX PLAYERS ASDFHUPQWERUHOFHUIASDHUF
(I really like the Red Sox.)
And, without a doubt, Reason #4: My parents and sister were with me, and they’re all happy and healthy. Being able to celebrate with them meant a lot to me. With my move out of state next month, we don’t know if we’ll be able to be together to celebrate next year.
It was a wonderful birthday.
