Current Daily Makeup Routine

I recently realized that it has been a while since my last beauty/makeup post on here (and Instagram), so it felt like the right time to share my current daily makeup routine! Now, I’ve done posts like this before, but I’m a makeup lover, so I frequently try new products, therefore changing my daily makeup routine.

I've been a big fan of makeup for a long time, so today I'm sharing my current daily makeup routine.

Daily Makeup Routine: Face

Moisturizer: Neutrogena oil-free moisturizer with SPF 15 You gotta moisturize and you especially have to use sunscreen! I’m super diligent about sunscreen because my grandmother has had skin cancer removed multiple times over the last 10 years (she just had another scare a few weeks ago, but it was benign). I really like this moisturizer because it’s affordable and the sunscreen is in it. If you want a moisturizer with like SPF 50, their Healthy Defense moisturizer is great.

Primer: Either Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer or Pixi by Petra’s Flawless & Poreless Primer – Smashbox is known for having a great variety of primers for your varying needs, but the Natural Finish one is a classic. I’ve used it off and on for 6 years! But I’ve also recently been using Pixi’s primer because it’s a bit cheaper than Smashbox ($22 compared to $36). It was recommended by Rachel of Rachh Loves, a beauty YouTuber I really like. Especially because she’s another pale girl, so the shades she uses are pretty close to mine and I can get a real idea of what will look good on me before I try it. But anyway, Rachel used Pixi’s primer, so I bought Pixi’s primer. (Bonus points to anyone who gets that slightly hidden reference!)

Foundation: Make Up For Ever’s Ultra HD Invisible Coverage Foundation – I LOVE this stuff, you guys. I’ve been using it for over a year now, which is the longest I’ve ever gone without changing foundations. Part of that is because I am super pale. We joke in my family that I got the Irish coloring and my sister got the Italian. So I generally have to settle for foundation that’s just a bit too dark for me. But Make Up For Ever has nearly 40 shades, so I’m able to wear foundation that actually matches my skin tone. I would say this stuff is medium coverage; I need concealer for under-eyes and any zits, but otherwise is covers a fair amount.

Concealer: NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – I’ve used NARS for years and I love it. It covers so much and really is creamy. It’s also nice because it comes in around 30 shades. I, as you probably figured out, use the lightest shades.

Highlight: ColourPop In-Nude-Endo Palette or Fenty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter – Highlighter is my favorite part of makeup, no joke. I just like to sparkle, okay? I really love the ColourPop palette because it comes in so many shades and they’re all really creamy. And I’m so pale that I can use the darker shades instead of blush + highlighter. Similarly, I do that with the Fenty highlighter. I have the Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule duo and they are so. freaking. beautiful. When I got it for Christmas, I almost didn’t want to use it because it’s so pretty. (Almost)

Daily Makeup Routine: Eyes

Eye Primer: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion: If you’re going to wear eyeshadow, you have to do primer! I’ve been really enjoying this primer from Urban Decay. I have needed to put on more of it than I have from other companies, but it’s really great.

Mascara: Too Faced Better Than Sex or Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara – I’ve written a whole post on mascaras, so I won’t go into super detail here, but these are the two mascaras I’ve used for years. Better Than Sex really is as good as everyone says. I absolutely love it. But for waterproof mascara, I use Lash Sensational. It’s pretty freaking good!

Eyeliner: Wet n Wild Icon Kohl Eyeliner – When it comes to eyeliner pencils, I always prefer drugstore over high-end. I like to do brown on my top lash-line and beige on my lower lash-line, which makes my eyes stand out and also more awake.

Eyeshadow: Tarte’s Tartelette Toasted Eyeshadow palette – I have been loving this palette! It has so many pretty shades that work for daily makeup as well as for events.

Brows: Benefit’s Gimme Brow Gel – This is another product that I’ve been using for years and still love! It gives my eyebrows a bit of oomf, but I don’t have to spend a long time on my brows. It also holds them in place, and it looks really natural.

Daily Makeup Routine: Finish

Setting Powder: Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder – Another lifetime favorite. It costs more than I would like, so about a year ago I started trying a lot of similar products and NONE worked as well as this. It is my absolute favorite. I use it after foundation and concealer but before highlighter.

Setting Spray: NYX Professional Makeup Setting Spray or Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Setting Spray – I used Urban Decay’s setting spray for several years, but I’m currently using NYX’s. I think that the Urban Decay one is definitely better, but it is expensive, and if it came down to Laura Mercier’s setting powder or Urban Decay’s setting powder, I’d rather pay for Laura Mercier.

Lips: Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment with Sunscreen or Clinique Pep-Start Pout Perfect Balm – I love these lip balms sooooo much. And what’s great about the Fresh Sugar product is that it has sunscreen. Yes, your lips need sunscreen, too! I’ve had both of these in multiple colors, so you know they’re good!
