I haven’t done a weekend recap in what feels like forever – mostly because I don’t normally do enough over the weekend to write an entire post about it … whoops – and this weekend my sister, Emily, visited!
Thursday night, Emily got in late. I had our Easter “baskets” from our parents waiting and my apartment all cleaned. In fact, on Wednesday I spent 4 hours cleaning, and it was the cleanest it has been since I moved in!
On Friday, we started off our day with sleeping in, coffee, and pancakes. Later, we went to my favorite local coffee shop for lunch, some work, and, of course, coffee. When we finished that, we did some shopping and then went to Whole Foods to pick up some groceries to make our Easter dinner. Obviously, I also picked up tulips.
Friday night, I made quinoa stir fry from My Whole Food Life, and we hung out and watched movies.
Saturday, we went for a walk on some trails in the park near where I live, which was perfect because it was a gorgeous day!
Then we made fruit salad for Easter breakfast and cake for Easter dessert, hung out for a while, and had Easter dinner before going to Easter vigil mass. We had Easter dinner Saturday night because Emily had to head back Sunday morning, which was also why we went to church Saturday night. It was a wonderful, lovely, and emotional mass. I can’t remember the last time I felt like I was going to cry in church, but celebrating Jesus and those people receiving the sacraments for the first time got me to that point.
Sunday morning, we both slept through 2 alarms and woke up when we planning on leaving for the airport. Whoops! Luckily, she didn’t have to check any bags, so it ended up being okay. I went straight from the airport to Starbucks, where I cranked out a few hours of work, and then went back home for even more work.
Overall, it was a fun Easter weekend. Let’s rejoice – He is risen!
