Love Me Some Books

I’ve been an avid reader as long as I can remember. Books have always been a big part of my life, and that hasn’t changed in recent years. I’m an English teacher and writer, so books aren’t just a big part of my life, they are my life. Unfortunately, I don’t get to read for fun as much as I used to due to my busy schedule.

Over spring break, I started rereading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo after watching the movie probably 4 times in 1 week (you can blame TNT and my arthritis for that one). While I really like that book, it doesn’t create the same can’t-wait-to-keep-reading feeling that some other books do for me. So once school started back up again, I stopped reading as much.

I’m really trying hard to read in my spare time. How can I ask my students to read if I’m not reading?

This got me thinking about what books make that can’t-wait-to-keep-reading feeling for me. Without a doubt, the book that first came to mind was Outlander. Coincidentally, it’s currently being adapted into a TV series for Starz, which I am wicked excited for. Plus, the next book in the series is supposed to come out in June, so obviously I need to reread the series before then.

Any other book suggestions? I’m especially looking for those that have that can’t-wait-to-keep-reading feeling!

In other news, I posted a new video on my YouTube channel. Be sure to check it out! And if I’m a little MIA this week, keep in mind that it’s because the big end-of-the-year test for my students in text week and I’m probably working another 60-hour week this week. The end is in sight, though!

omy gosh, where do I start?! I just recapped a couple great reads on my blog,
For sure, you must read Fault in Our Stars by John Green. How about Still Missing by Chevy Stevens? That's a must too! And she just came out with a new one that is supposed to be great too!

I absolutely love series. I get so sucked in by books that it is nice to know that it doesn't end after a single novel. I will have to check out Outlander!

Do you have a Goodreads account? It is amazing for tracking what you've read and finding new things. I recently read The Cider House Rules by John Irving and loved it. But I think the last intense page turner I read was Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson or the Hunger Games trilogy (I know, so 2 years ago)

Omg I can't believe you didn't like GWTDT that much! It's been on my book list for forever, I want to get into that series because the movie was really interesting (to me at least). But reading has always been a big part of my life too. When I was little my mom would have to limit me the amount of books I could take with me in the car and after my parents put me to bed I would sneak into my closet and read in there until I fell asleep lol. Go books!
