Value of a Girls’ Night

I’ve always been on the busy side of things, and even though I’m technically doing less this year that definitely hasn’t changed. I have plenty of time to get all of my homework done (I read over 250 pages of research articles and textbook this weekend), but I still make sure there’s time to socialize. If you’re like me, then if you don’t get some socialization you can, will, and do go crazy. I’m all about the “me” time, but I absolutely value quality time with my friends.

I really lucked out this weekend, then, because I was able to have lots of it. In particular, last night was one of the best nights I have had is an extremely long time.

What wasn’t there: alcohol, drugs, boys, homework

What was there: nail polish, 8 of my closest girl friends, and music

Our choir director has been fortunate enough that he and his wife are expecting their first child next month. Since the girls are throwing a traditional baby shower next week (read: girly and unmasculine), the boys decided to throw our director a “man shower.” I don’t really know what that means, but I do know that it meant that my friends who live with boys had the apartment to themselves. Logically, we all then invaded.

It was wonderful. I had no idea I needed that so badly. Quality time, catching up, snuggles, and nail polish all mean that I feel extremely lucky right now.

Are you making sure that you’re getting enough quality friend-time in your life?

  • I hope you know that this WILL be happening on a regular occasion. We'll pick a night where we can kick Ian and Nick out without being too obnoxious and we'll do it again 🙂 I absolutely loved it too! I love you girls so much!
