Da Move

Well, moving has been … moving. I don’t mean emotionally moving. I mean it has been exactly like it tends to be, full of ups and downs and crazy emotions and crazy people and exhaustion. It’s only Sunday and I still have so much to do it’s ridiculous. Let me break it down for you.

Tuesday – Flights went off without a hitch! Bags arrived! Lease was signed! It was a miracle, but everything happened the way it should have. Well, sort of. My wonderful and amazing friend and former roommate Kat picked me up, drove me to my apartment complex, where I signed my lease. Then, we drove up to my actual apartment and dropped off bags. She then drove me over to my storage unit (luckily not too far away) and to get some food to tide me over.

Why was the incredible Kat driving me everywhere? Oh, well my car was in storage and not registered in Tennessee and the Maine registration was expired. I had no desire to get a ticket right now.

I was so happy to see this skyline!

Wednesday – Kat picked me up again and I got my car. Cue adventure of a total Daddy’s girl … because my battery was disconnected and I had no idea how to do it. Thank you, random stranger working on your carpentry in a nearby storage unit! That done, it was time to drive around town to get the registration done, figure out when my furniture would arrive, get some food/other household supplies, get more from my storage unit, and return home.

Another fun adventure: figuring out if I could or could not participate in the work training planned for Thursday. It went back and forth throughout the day, but ended up being a big YES. Thank goodness.

Thursday – Training all day long and spending all day hoping that the moving company would call and say that my furniture would arrive on Friday. They called and yes! It would be there on Friday! Huzzah!

Friday – Furniture arrived! How wonderful! I’m doing the mattress-on-the-floor thing for the time being (buying things for classroom > buying box spring) but it is what it is. It’s an adventure!

Saturday – More unpacking, preparing for my classroom, and planning a week of awesomely healthy and delicious foods. For example, gluten-free pesto pasta with grape tomatoes and red peppers. Inspiration struck from the awesome website My Whole Food Life. I will be posting about it at some point because she has the absolute best recipes.

I would also like to introduce you to a new member of my blog family – Hannah!

I’m Hannah, a girl who loves embracing her red hair.  I’m a college student from MN, studying Speech-Language Pathology. I love talking, Grey’s Anatomy, shopping (especially at Target), taking pictures, and a good cup of Caribou Coffee.  If I could I would wear TOMS shoes and maxi skirts every day of the week.  On my blog, Words as Palindromes, you will read all about this and more! 🙂
You can follow her here:

     Bloglovin’
     Facebook
One reason why I like her and her blog so much is that she posts original content, stuff that I’m not seeing on other blogs. It’s a great change of pace sometimes! Plus she’s incredibly funny.

So, you and I will need to talk when it gets closer to me moving down there, about your experience finding a place to live! I won't be able to do it until I have a job, which is currently an active pursuit. Glad you are finally getting settle though 🙂
