Somehow over the past month I became one of those people. Who has the gym class schedule on the fridge, who is regularly like “So today I went to work and the gym and then I ate a healthy dinner.” My fridge is full of fruits and veggies, I eat almond butter every day, and the only junk food I have is a bag of corn chips.
Now this isn’t to say that I haven’t always been healthy. I have. My diet has always been pretty good, mostly because I try and stick to an anti-inflammatory diet. Y’all should be pretty familiar by now that I love yoga and do it every day. My good diet and my yoga addiction are why I have felt comfortable never really doing more exercise than that, especially given my severe case of rheumatoid arthritis.
But, as the commercials remind us, a body at rest stays at rest and a body in motion stays in motion. That, plus the fact that I’m going to Florida in less than 2 months and want to be confident on the beach, kicked me into gear to join a gym. I joined less than a week ago and have already gone 3 times. So far I’m feeling good and everything is going well!
To try and stick with it, I ordered a new shirt to wear for working out. You’ve probably heard this, but the idea is if you spend money on it you’re more likely to stick it out. At least, that’s the theory. I figured that this was the perfect opportunity to buy this, though:

This is one of my favorite quotes from the fabulous movie Legally Blonde. Of course I’ll want to wear this and to work out!
My reasons behind this are not to lose weight or to fit in a certain size. I want to make sure that my joints (and the rest of me) is in good shape. I want to feel good about how I look. Most of the time, I’m fortunate enough that I do. That’s not all the time, though. I’m hoping that by going to the gym 3+ times a week, doing full-length yoga classes 2 times a week, and doing my own yoga will help me in many different ways. Here’s hoping it does!
