Here’s the Deal

My head is all amuck. Normally I schedule guest posters for when I recover from infusions, but this time it completely slipped my mind. In today’s post, I’m skipping around a bit. Talking my health first, then my survey and where I’m going with this blog. Read what you want, skip what you want.

1. Health Update

For those of you who are new, I have rheumatoid arthritis. I was diagnosed four years ago, and up until this week, my disease was classified as “highly active.” We have now hesitantly reduced me to “moderately active” now that I’ve gone from 57 to 54 affected joints. Progress is progress. I’ll take what I can get.

I’ve gotten this progress from infusions. 5ish hours in the hospital, 6 months apart (going to 4 now), hooked up to chemicals designed to kill my immune system. On Wednesday, I had 1000mL of chemicals dumped into my bloodstream. Saying that I’m exhausted and weak is an understatement.

2. Blog Update

I’m also trying to figure out a new organizational system/editorial calendar for this blog. I’m finding it more and more difficult to find really high quality content to post about 5 days a week. I’ve been blogging 5 times a week for over a year now, and I think that I would rather post 3-4 days a week with higher quality than 5 days for the sake of posting.

That was why I put out that survey at the beginning of the week. I wanted to find out what it was that you – my readers – liked reading and would like to read less of.

Overall, there was a pretty solid mix. Basically, this just means that I’m going to try and keep things pretty evenly split. Some of you don’t like hearing about living with chronic illness. For some of you, that’s why you came here in the first place. I’m going to work out an editorial calendar that evenly splits health, my life, general lifestyle, and other elements (like fashion and writing). I’m also going to try – that’s the key word, try – to upload YouTube videos once a week this summer. Check out this first one, and subscribe to my channel!

3. Life Update

I’m currently in Boston, I’ll be in Maine for a little bit for a long weekend, then back in Boston for a few days, before heading back to Nashville. I’ll then have 6 weeks of planning days, training days, tanning days, writing days … not much of a break. I definitely thought that teachers got more of break than they do!

Okay. So let me know what you think about the blog updates, etc. And have a good weekend!

    Hang in there! Keep strong.
    I love Boston!
I only post 2-3 times a week. Too much otherwise.

Posting 5x per week is a lot to ask of any writer. I'm more of the, if you have stuff to post 5x per week, do that. But if you only have content for 3 or 4 days, do that. 🙂

I so hope you will feel some more relief from your treatments! I hate having IVs, but I guess they're worth it. You're so brave!

"Some of you don't like hearing about living with chronic illness" I am offended by these people. I mean, you asked, and okay, fine, it's not always fun reading about problems, but on the other hand, it's one of those things where it's like… you can skip it, but you can't discourage it. Because it's important and it probably serves a purpose for the person who's talking about it. /ramble
