My face when I have a million thoughts running thr My face when I have a million thoughts running through my head but I have to work ... ⁣
⁣
This week has been A Lot. Yesterday was the inauguration, and just knowing it was happening was fantastic yet distracting. (I watched a bit during my lunch break and got a thrill seeing 𝘔𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘮 Vice President up there.) ⁣
⁣
Today, as soon as I log off from work, I'm heading back to Boston. I might be up in Maine a bit in the next few months, but I'll be based out of Boston again. There's so much to do when you move!⁣
⁣
Oh, and I have my normal work and my blog work. Needless to say, it has been a hectic couple of days.⁣
⁣
Personally, I'm big on to-do lists and find them most helpful when it comes to organizing my thoughts. How do you do it when you have lots you need to do in a short period of time? ⁣

Enjoying my last few days here for a while. ⁣
⁣
I'll be back in Boston by Friday, for the first time since Thanksgiving. It has been fantastic spending most of the last 10 months in my home state, but unfortunately, the extreme rural-ness is exceptionally difficult when you're chronically ill. ⁣
⁣
Cars and driving are absolutely necessary in Maine. There is some public transportation in Portland and Bangor, but it's nothing compared to the MBTA. And driving is pretty miserable for me considering my most messed up joints are in my feet and knees. ⁣
⁣
I've also passed on a bunch of healthcare due to the pandemic. I've only done what's absolutely necessary, but I can't wait for the pandemic to be over to resume the rest. (For example, I 100% need an iron infusion.) I have a bunch of appointments in the next couple of weeks! ⁣
⁣
I'm going to miss spending so much time here. I have no clue when it will happen again. ⁣
⁣
Has your health affected where you live? ⁣

Happy Sunday! This picture makes me look a lot mor Happy Sunday! This picture makes me look a lot more pulled together today than I actually am. I'm having a bit of a bad pain day, which isn't that surprising because the weather has been all over the place and I spent most of yesterday packing to move back to Boston this week. ⁣
⁣
That being said, as I'm unable to really write blog post(s) today/this weekend, I'm trying to do a bunch of the planning tasks that need to get done. Which leads me to the purpose of this IG post: ⁣

As we move forward in 2021, we have to ask ourselv As we move forward in 2021, we have to ask ourselves: What do we want our futures to look like? What do we need to do to get there?⁣
⁣
For example, I want to be debt-free and to be (relatively) independent again.⁣
⁣
In order to make that happen, I am focusing on paying off my student loans right and putting whatever is left over towards moving. ⁣
⁣
But beyond saving money? I don't really know what comes next. It's overwhelming! I'm trying to spend some time thinking constructively about what I need to do to achieve that goal.⁣
⁣
✨ What are you doing to take care of your future? ✨ ⁣

I took this photo in Reagan National Airport in 20 I took this photo in Reagan National Airport in 2015 on my way home from an advocacy trip. It was a privilege to meet with my representatives' offices. I've been several more times since then, and last year I went to the Massachusetts State House for an advocacy day. ⁣
⁣
I always felt safe. ⁣
⁣
I can't imagine what the many people who work in the Capitol felt like last Wednesday, and I can't imagine how they feel this week. This place was breeched in a targeted attack. Lives were at risk. And not just the elected officials; other people at risk included Congressional and Senate staff members, janitorial staff, food service staff, retail staff, and many more.⁣
⁣
I don't really have a point for this post other than if we want things to change, we have to work to make the change. We can't assume other people will deal with the problem of white supremacy in this country. ⁣
⁣

Since we are fully in the new year and I haven't d Since we are fully in the new year and I haven't done this in a while, I thought I would introduce myself! Hi, everyone 👋 ⁣
⁣
I'm Kate and I'm a millennial from New England. While I work for an education nonprofit, I also write a blog primarily for chronic illness patients and their loved ones. I write to help people live fuller lives and to share my copious experience. I am very liberal and I'm anti-T**mp. (I don't want you following me if you support him.)⁣
⁣
I have ... a collection of chronic illnesses and conditions, but my main one is rheumatoid arthritis. Since that is an autoimmune disease, my immune system has to be super suppressed, so I've spent most of the last year hanging out at home and will for the foreseeable future. ⁣
⁣
Here are some non-health or blog things about me: ⁣
1️⃣ I like to read historical fiction⁣
2️⃣ I'm obsessed with my pets - 2 dogs and a cat! ⁣
3️⃣ I love my home state of Maine, which is where I've been for most of the last year ⁣
4️⃣ I'm an ISFJ, Enneagram 2w1, and Gemini ⁣
⁣
Tell me about you in the comments! ⬇ ⁣

Looking ahead at the first full week of work after Looking ahead at the first full week of work after a week and a half of vacation ... ⁣
⁣
Going back to work after vacation isn't necessarily hard. I like my job and the company I work for! It's more that it's difficult to do while also writing blog posts and newsletters and a bunch of social media posts and trying to get the first full year of having an LLC off to a good start ... you get the picture. ⁣
⁣
I'm not really a "New Year's resolution" person, and I'm not really a "word for the year" person, either. But if I was, my resolution would be to find more of a balance in my life, and my word of 2021 would be balance, as much as possible. ⁣
