Saying No

I know that there are times when it can be hard to say “no” to someone. You don’t want to hurt their feelings, they have a great puppy-dog face, you love or care for them, etc. But cutting back on your commitments can be necessary for whatever reason. Maybe you’re overworked, you need to put more energy into other parts of your life, or it’s something that you’re uncomfortable with.

Let me teach you a phrase. The best phrase you can use, etc.

“It’s not a priority.”

Say it with me. “It’s not a priority.”

Prioritize your life and what’s going on. Say to yourself or to someone else, “Honestly, these other things are a higher priority for me. I need to get these other things done right now.”

Say it, believe it, live it. “It’s not a priority.”

It is INCREDIBLY difficult to say no or put other things in front of things you've said yes to. But, it is true. Sometimes you just have to say no.
