Summer Office Fashion

Now that it is basically summer, we’re at that tricky time of the year where it’s hot outside but freezing inside if you live or work somewhere with AC. Today I bring you two possible work outfits depending on how casual your office is.

Formal

If you work in a more formal environment, the AC inside and hot temps outside are no reasons to get a little lax on the dress code. In this case, swapping a heavier skirt or dress for a cotton pencil skirt and short-sleeved button down will do the trick. If you’re in an environment where you feel like you need to wear heels, then you might be able to swap them for open-toed wedges. Might being the key word there – it will depend on your office.

Professional to Casual

If you work somewhere where you need to be professional but it’s more casual, a maxi dress and cardigan will work well. A cotton maxi gives you the comfort and breeziness that you want, but the cardigan (maybe a short-sleeved one) gives you the coverage you need to keep it more formal. If the dress you’re wearing is borderline too low-cut, add on a light chiffon scarf for when you’re in the office. Throw on some dressy sandals – like these platinum Jack Rogers – and you’re good to go.

Best of luck staying cool as the heat increases! Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

These are so on point. I work in a hair salon and we need to keep in cool inside. Unfortunately there is an AC vent under my desk. I usually wear closed toe shoes and I have a small blanket stored in my desk to put on my feet.

Loveeeee these both! I am obsessed with maxi everything for summer haha so that second look is definitely something that I would wear NO DOUBT. I've never been in such a professional job that requires dressing up like the first look…but hopefully that will happen sometime soon!
