I feel very fortunate in that I have a lot to be thankful for. Yes, there have been many things this year that were not good. Someone else who hasn’t lived my life might think that the past 365 days have sucked. But this year was better. So today – Thanksgiving in the USA, if you want not American and wondering why I’m talking about this – I wanted to talk about what I’m thankful for.
I am thankful for my family and my friends. I am so fortunate to have parents that I can live with happily, who can help take care of me when things are not good, who love me and who I love. I am so thankful to have a good relationship with the rest of my family. And I am so, so lucky to have the incredible friends I do and to have them in my city.
I am also thankful for my improved health. In the past year, I finally had knee surgery, the surgery that stopped my knee from dislocating. We also finally got my anemia figured out. Turns out that sometimes people with chronic diseases have a kind of anemia where they can’t absorb iron properly. I’ve had 2 iron infusions and it’s now all about seeing how long they work for me. My hematologist and my rheumatologist will have my anemia watched and prevented before it gets too bad again. Because my anemia is improved, I have more energy and am essentially a different person. Funny how having proper blood and iron levels affects your life.
I’m also thankful my work situation now. I have the best job situation, seriously. At the office 2 days a week, with people who are great, doing general office things as well as some writing work. This allows me to be in grad school, which I love. I love my program and the classes I have the opportunity to take. I don’t know what my health holds for me in the future, so I’m so thankful for the opportunity to do this program now.
And, of course, I’m thankful for you. All of you who read this blog, whether it’s one post only or every single post I write. Thank you for coming here and supporting me and this blog. I’m so grateful that the work I’ve put in this year has you reading, commenting, sharing, and coming back. Because of you, I make some money from this blog. Because of you, I get to write creatively multiple times a week. I’m sure there are other things that I should thank you for, but there’s no way I will ever be able to list them all. More than anything else, I’m thankful.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, American or not!
