Blogging changes a lot over the years, but one thing that stays the same is we always want blog post ideas. This was true when I started in 2013, it’s true now in 2021, and it will probably be true in 2030. I’ve written several of these posts, but not in a while. That being said, I’ve pulled together 25 blog post ideas for beginners. Whether you haven’t published your blog yet, or you’ve been blogging for 6 months, these blog post ideas will help you write awesome blog posts.

Blog Topics for Beginners
Before we get into the blog post ideas, let’s answer some questions you might have if you’re reading this post.
How do I know when to publish my blog?
There’s never the “right time” to publish your blog. If I’ve learned anything about blogging, it’s that you’re never done working on your blog. I’m constantly fiddling with the sidebar, rewriting pages, figuring out what plugins work or don’t for me. And I can’t tell you when it’s the right time to publish your blog! The one thing I would say is that it will take a long time to publish enough posts to consistently get a lot of traffic. So publish when you have five posts, when you have two posts, when you don’t have any posts. You’re never going to be ready.
Why is my blog not getting traffic?
What should my first blog post be?
Just like it’s never going to be the “right time” to publish, there’s also never the perfect post to be your first post. Honestly? I would say you should start writing your blog posts like you’ve been writing them for a while, even if you haven’t. Do whatever you want.
A few months ago, I started deleting old posts that don’t fit my blog now, don’t bring me any traffic nowadays, or are just embarrassing to me now, all to hopefully speed up my site. So if someone went back to the first blog posts I wrote, they’re not going to actually see the first blog posts. Post #1 isn’t actually post #1.
What should I blog about?
I don’t know you, what you’re interested in, or what inspires you. I would say that you shouldn’t blog about a specific topic just because you want to make money and that seems like the most profitable topic. You won’t enjoy yourself if you force yourself to write it, and it takes a long time for blogs to be profitable.
So blog about something that you like to talk about and that you can find a lot of components to talk about. If you don’t like talking about it, people will be able to tell from your writing.
25 Blog Post Ideas for Beginners
Your experience with your topic – Doesn’t have to be a “this is why I’m writing about this!” post, but it can be.
Lessons you’ve learned in the last 1, 2, 5, 10, however many years – We all love to go into something with some idea of what to experience. So looking back at when you were a beginner and sharing the lessons you’ve learned since then is a great thing people want to read.
Your favorite products for your topic – Whether you’re writing about makeup or blogging, chronic illness or fitness, people love a products post. This is also a great type of post to use affiliate links in.
Pick a fictional depiction of your topic. Is it accurate or not? – This won’t apply to all topics, but for some, it definitely does.
How to make something from your topic – If you’re a beauty blogger, then this could be a makeup look. If you’re a DIY blogger, then this is going to be most of your posts.
Get to know me – Again, doesn’t have to be an “intro to my blog” post, but it can be.
Where you work – This is more about your desk set-up, craft room, or kitchen than it is about where you live. Definitely don’t share too much about where you live on the Internet!
Your favorite things about your topic – Pretty self-explanatory!
How you manage [thing from your topic] – I know that this is pretty general, and that’s on purpose.
Scenes from [thing from your topic] – Again, pretty general. But people like to see behind-the-scenes of things, which includes showing people what happens behind the scenes of your topic.
What you should know about using an editorial calendar
The best resources for your topic – Another great post for using affiliate links!
What most people don’t know about your topic – People love posts implying that they need to know something.
What you would tell people new to your topic – I’ve written a couple of posts in this that are beginner’s guides to things, like infusions for arthritis or RA flares. The RA-flares one is one of my most-read posts of the last 2 years!
Review a new product (related to your topic) that was released – Great for SEO, establishing yourself in your field, and for affiliate links.
Share a controversial opinion you have about your topic – These are always great because you can get people to share it and interact with it if they agree – or disagree.
10 steps to writing an incredible blog post
What your favorite or least favorite thing about your topic is – Great for establishing yourself and your voice when it comes to your topic.
Something about your topic that you love or hate – Same as above, but more extreme.
Write about a holiday or event related to your topic – Holiday-specific posts (for basically any holiday) are always good for traffic. Be sure to post it weeks or a month before the holiday or event in order to rank for that holiday’s SEO.
A little-known thing about your topic – Pretty self-explanatory.
What’s in a bag related to your topic – People love what’s-in-my-bag posts.
The resources you use to run your blog and your experience with them – These are always good for affiliate links.
What you’ve learned from blogging about your topic – You can learn a lot by blogging about something! I’ve learned a lot about rheumatoid arthritis and chronic illness from blogging about them.
Your favorite social media accounts related to your topic – This is a great topic for connecting with your audience.
Social media ideas for your topic – Also great for getting traffic!
Blog post ideas for your topic 😉 – Oh hey, are you reading this post? Have you never or rarely been to my blog before, but this post made you? Then you can see the benefit to writing a post with post ideas for your topic.
