Favorite October Outfit & Makeup

I love fall so much. It’s my favorite time of year! Other than a couple uncharacteristically warm days, we’ve been pretty solidly fall for the past month, and we will be for another month or so. Since fall is also my favorite time for clothes and makeup, I thought I would share my current favorite outfit and the makeup I’ve been loving recently. (Plus, if you need glasses, scroll down to get a 50% off coupon for GlassesShop!)

I received some of the products in this post in exchange for discussing them. I only share my honest opinion on them. Additionally, * indicates affiliate link. Thank you for supporting Kate the (Almost) Great and the things that make it possible for me to spend so much time on this blog!

Favorite Fall Outfit & Makeup

Outfit

Cozy fall outfit

Sweater* | Jeans* | Glasses

Over the past year, I’ve started wearing my glasses way more than my contacts. This is mostly because my eyes have been bothering me a lot and also because I’ve experienced a fair amount of what chronic pain patients call painsomnia, aka insomnia because of pain, and it’s difficult to wear my contacts when I haven’t slept enough. Plus, I spend a lot of time reading, both books and on the computer, so it’s just easier on my eyes to wear my glasses. I ordered this pair of glasses from GlassesShop, and they have a great selection of glasses frames available. They also have prescription sunglasses! They have a great selection for everyone in every style you can imagine. Also, if you use the code GSHOT50, you can get 50% off with free lenses! (This excludes sales frames, by the way.)

Beauty

Great makeup for fall!

Simple darkish matte eyeshadow, like the Tarlette Clay Amazonian Matte Eyeshadow Palette* and the Naked Basics palettes* | Light highlighter; pearl if other makeup is dark since I’m so pale (like this one from BECCA) and gold if not (like this one from ColourPop) | Dark lipstick, specifically Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Beetroot* c/o Bite, or neutral lips if dark eyes. I’m especially love this Ultra Satin Lip liquid lipstick in Littlestitious with Oh Snap pencil from ColourPop

I’m very, very pale. This is partially because the largest percentage of my ancestors are Irish (followed by Polish and Scottish) and partially because I have chronic anemia due to my arthritis. As such, dark makeup tends to stand out much more on me than it does on other people, so when darker colors start reappearing, I usually go slightly darker than neutral. That’s why this makeup all works so well for me – I can wear most of the shades in these palettes without doing a very dark (for me) smoky eye and the lip is just a shade or two darker than red lipstick.

What is your favorite part of fall fashion and fall makeup?

In fall, I love wearing burgundy lipstick. When it comes to eyeshadow, beige and dark brown shades are my favs!

The most common question I get about sharing my ex The most common question I get about sharing my experience with chronic illness is "How do you deal with it?" These 3 quotes are sources of inspiration and indicative of how I do it. ⁣
⁣
1. "Guard your time fiercely. Be generous with it, but be intentional about it." - Davd Duchemin⁣
I am SO intentional with my time. Even when I (rarely) do spur-of-the-moment fun things, I'm doing mental calculations of how to make it happen. ⁣
⁣
2. "Find out who you are and do it on purpose." - Dolly Parton⁣
That's what my blog and advocacy work is. I figured out who I am: someone who helps other patients, who shares her story, who tries to change the world. And I'm doing it on purpose. ⁣
⁣
3. "For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but power, love, and self-discipline." - 2 Timothy 1:7 ⁣
I will be afraid some times (we all will) but my spirit is not one of fear or timidity. My spirt of power, love, and self-discipline enables me to keep fighting for myself and others. ⁣
