If you’ve heard about coconut oil and its benefits when it comes to preparing healthy meals, trust us when we say that you’ll be thrilled to find out about its amazing benefits when talking about beauty and skincare. Just stay with us and get ready to learn something new about coconut oil, so that you can use it in many different ways on a daily basis!
General Benefits of Coconut Oil
Being a staple ingredient in almost every kitchen across the globe, coconut oil is definitely one of the most popular elements of people’s everyday lives. Of course, it can be used for many other things apart from cooking. This oil is said to have many health benefits, like protecting your hair, reducing inflammation, and helping various processes in your body. It’s well-known for being rich in vitamin E, which is particularly beneficial for your hair and skin. This ingredient is also amazing when it comes to moisturizing and nourishment, both on the inside and on the outside. Coconut oil helps in building muscles; it lowers the risk of heart disease, prevents tooth decay, and even improves digestion. Apart from that, this ingredient has been extensively used in the beauty industry, as well. There are a lot of high-quality creams, face masks, body lotions, and amazing makeup removers that feature coconut oil. That shouldn’t surprise you at all, since it has so many fantastic benefits you definitely shouldn’t overlook!
How Can Coconut Oil Benefit Your Skin?
Apart from everything else, coconut oil is great for your skin for several reasons. First of all, it has amazing hydrating abilities, which is why many people love to use it as a topical moisturizer. That makes it particularly suitable for those with extremely dry skin and even patients with atopic dermatitis. Don’t be afraid to apply it to your face, too, because it’ll melt on your skin and seep into your pores, without leaving any residue. Just make sure not to use too much of it – you only need a small amount of coconut oil since it spreads really well. You can even use it if your skin is oily, since overproduction of sebum is often linked to inadequate skin hydration. In order to hydrate it properly, you can use coconut oil which won’t make your skin even oilier. This ingredient also protects your skin from the harmful sun’s rays, because it’s said to block about 20% of ultraviolet rays from the sun. That makes it an incredible natural sunscreen. Apart from all these benefits, coconut oil has some awesome anti-aging benefits. In case you didn’t know, your skin cells contain fatty acids, like most other cells in your body. Well, this ingredient has some special fatty acids that can naturally balance saturated to unsaturated fatty acids levels in your skin, which helps it repair itself and prevents wrinkles. Coconut oil also stimulates collagen production and replacement, which makes it one of the most marvelous natural anti-aging ingredients!
DIY Beauty Products Featuring Coconut Oil
If you’re up for all-natural homemade skincare remedies, you simply need to take coconut oil into consideration. Its smooth texture allows it to penetrate your skin really efficiently, which will help it become much softer instantly. In combination with honey and lemon juice, it will most certainly do magic! Honey will also hydrate your skin cells to the max, whereas lemon juice helps in tightening your enlarged pores and making them less visible. In order to make a fabulous face mask, combine one tablespoon of coconut oil, two teaspoons of raw honey, and ½ teaspoon of lemon juice in a small mixing bowl. Stir them thoroughly until the mixture becomes compact, and then apply a thick coat of it onto your clean face. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then rinse off with cool water. Pat dry with a soft towel and voila – your skin will be as smooth and silky as never before! Here’s an extra tip: you should always look for organic, unrefined, cold pressed, and extra virgin oil, so that you avoid any possible skin irritation. Processed coconut oil can contain some additives that may potentially cause allergic reactions.
As you can see, coconut oil is truly beneficial at so many levels – both on the inside and on the outside, as an ingredient in beauty products and as an ingredient in your meals. So, if you’re interested in all-natural products that come with so many benefits for your health and beauty, you definitely shouldn’t skip coconut oil. Just give it a try and you won’t regret it!

I find coconut oil to be one of those all-purpose things! I’ve used it for my face as well as a moisturizer, on the ends of my hair if I’m about to go for a hot shower, to bake with (it is a bit strange for me to use a cooking ingredient as a cosmetic :s )… so many things!
