Another month has come and gone! I’m taking this time to talk about what’s currently going on in my life. This approach is a little more fun than monthly favorites, in my opinion, and it gives me the opportunity to talk about lots of things.

Currently, I’m …
… feeling: excited for my birthday (it’s on Monday!), exhausted constantly, and annoyed with my knee. I still have about a month and a half until my knee surgery, which is because of my surgeon’s schedule and what’s happening in my life. It’s only comfortable if it’s straight and not bearing weight, which means that it’s not very comfortable most of the time. Additionally, I think my infusion is starting to run out, which would explain why I’m so tired all of the time since my anemia isn’t that bad right now. I still have a couple more weeks before my infusion will be completely out, so I’m trying to enjoy how things are right now, especially since I have my infusion a few days before my surgery, meaning I’ll be out of commission for most of July. Which reminds me – if you want to guest post at some point from July 12 to July 31, fill out this form!
… reading: The Shadow of the Wind and Atonement. I’m listening to The Shadow of the Wind on Audible right now, and it’s really good! I’m reading both of these books as a part of the Modern Mrs. Darcy 2017 Reading Challenge, and The Shadow of the Wind is for the category of book in translation and Atonement is for a book with an unreliable narrator. I’m farther into Atonement right now since I’ve been in Maine all weekend and I tend to read more physical books here than I do in Boston. I’ve listened to The Shadow of the Wind in the car ride (I get motion sickness so no reading) and while going about my business in the city. The Shadow of the Wind tells the story of a young boy in 1945 Barcelona whose innocent questions about a book he loves lead to unearth the story of murder and love. Atonement speaks about how not understanding adult motives and actions leads a young girl to accuse an innocent man of a horrific crime, which has immense repercussions. I also read Exit West earlier in the month, and I loved it! It’s about a couple who live in a Middle Eastern city that becomes overrun with war (the exact city or country is never said, but it is deliberately set in a place that is experiencing what much of the Middle East is experiencing/has experienced) and they decide to emigrate together through one of the mythical doors to other places in the world that have emerged. It’s a beautiful book and gives a whole other perspective on the refugee crisis that is going on now.
… wanting: to be able to wear sunglasses again! One of the super fun things about my life right now is that I have inflammation around my eyes that is preventing my eyes from holding onto the tears that they create. This leads to dry eyes, making contacts nearly impossible to wear, which means I’m wearing my glasses all the time. I really need to get prescription sunglasses so I can have those this summer so I’m not squinting all the time!
… watching: Supernatural, Hawaii Five-0, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and The Killing. Supernatural and Hawaii Five-0 have been rewatches in anticipation of the new seasons coming out on Netflix, but Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Killing have been new. The Killing has been especially gripping and it’s actually one of the few shows or movies that I haven’t wanted to find out what happens before I watch it. The first two seasons are about one murder, and I stopped to take a break after finishing them before going on to the next season. It’s really intense!
… looking forward to: my birthday and finishing TLM! I turn 26 on Monday, June 5, and it’s kind of surreal. Getting older doesn’t bother me, but I do enjoy all the things that come with birthdays. Cake! Presents! People celebrating you! What’s not to love? We started celebrating over the weekend with my family in Maine, and that was fun. But I’m also really looking forward to finishing the first draft of TLM. I’m getting so close! I’m really hoping that I finish it before my infusion and surgery so that I can start editing some time in August.
… wearing: Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Pearl, and my fav Madewell Whisper Cotton V-Neck Pocket Tees (some colors are on sale for $15!). I tend to wear more matte eyeshadow in the summer than other times of the year, and I love this palette because it has so many colors in a variety of intensity. I also really love this highlighter for this time of year because I tend to go more light-weight with my makeup and this gives me just a subtle glow since I’m so pale. But to be honest, I wear these Madewell tees year-round. I have them in 4 different colors – that’s how much I love them.
… enjoying: slow summer vibes. I finished my semester earlier in May, and now I have until the middle of July to just enjoy life. Like I said, I’m trying to finish TLM before medical stuff takes over my summer, but I’m also enjoying focusing on blogging and freelance writing for a little bit. I’ll have my infusion and then surgery in July, and then it’ll be recovery central for a couple of weeks. So I’m enjoying the little bits of time that I currently have!

Isn’t it? I’ve now watched the first 3 seasons but I don’t know if I’ll watch the last one.
