It’s finally fall in New England. Temperatures are generally below 60 (my favorite) and the shorts have been put away. The only thing I like more than low temperatures? Fall outfits! Layers are a New Englander’s best friend, so as you might gather, I’m a little bit of an expert in them. So let’s talk some of my favorite fall outfits.

Layering Tip 1 – Add Tights
Dress c/o Tobi | Tights* | Necklace c/o Happiness Boutique
If you have a dress that’s not thin but not long, add tights to make it more seasonable. This will keep you warm but also allow you to wear short dresses as it gets colder. Since we’re approaching the time when it gets to the thirties and forties at night(!!!!!), tights are a must.
This super cute dress is from Tobi, and the 3/4 sleeves make it even better for fall weather. It looks great with flats, heels, and boots, and it has quickly become one of my favorite pieces in my closet. I wore it to Her Campus College Fashion Week a few weeks ago, and it was so comfortable!
Layering Tip 2 – Add Bomber Jacket
Jeans* | Jeans* | Scarf is Lilly Pulitzer and several years old | Jacket c/o Tobi | Sunglasses* | Shoes*
Anyone else love bomber jackets? To people like me – the ones with a classic and preppy style – it adds a bit of an edge. This jacket from Tobi is thick enough to be warm in this weather, but it’s not so heavy that I overheat while wearing it. It’s my go-to jacket this fall! (PS – It also comes in olive!)
Layering Tip 3 – Cardigans and Scarves
Like I said, layers are your friend, especially this time of year when it’s warm in the day and chilly in the mornings and evenings. Cardigans are my favorite – I honestly own more of them than I own shirts – because they’re easy to change when the weather changes. Add scarves to it all and you can add a pop of color if you’re like me and own mostly neutral colors and/or warmth on the chilly days.
What is your favorite part of fall outfits?
