So, remember how I just randomly dropped off the face of the Earth for a few days? Well, here’s what’s been going on over the past week and a half, which will probably explain that.
Wednesday, July 30 // 4 hours at the mechanic’s – guess whose car needed new brakes, new battery, new sensor for something or other, oil change, & tire rotation? Last physical therapy appointment in Nashville, and happy hour with my closest teaching friends, which was also when I said goodbye to them.
Thursday, July 31 // Talked to leasing office of my apartment, explained everything, and got things rolling on that front. Started getting rid of the things I don’t need or haven’t used in the past 6 months to a year, which definitely turned into a bigger deal than I expected.
Friday, August 1 // Finalized the apartment situation and continued cleaning it out and packing. I got dinner with Katharine, who has been one of my best friends for the past 5 years (and she was only college roommate I ever had). Then, at 11 PM, the first episode of Outlander became available to watch for free online. It’s AMAZING and I can’t wait for the rest of the series.
Saturday, August 2 // Continued packing and cleaning, met up with Leslin, and went on my last grocery shopping trip in Nashville. I decided which books to sell, which books to pack up and go away until I move into my own apartment in New England, and which books I want easy access to over the next couple of months. (Also a bigger deal than expected.)
Sunday, August 3 // Saw and said goodbye to another friend and started packing in earnest. Which included majorly dislocating my knee again. I was kneeling on the ground to pack, stood up, and then felt and heard a crunch and a pop.
Monday, August 4 // My awesome friend Virginia came over to help me back, and then I spent a lot of time resting because my knee was extremely angry. This also unfortunately involved missing my friend Jessie’s birthday dinner because my knee was raging. Incredibly high pain even when I didn’t walk on it, and burning pain in my knee whenever I bend it.
I felt like this was a pretty good reason to wear my Cure Arthritis shirt |
Tuesday, August 5 // Awake until after 2:30 AM because of knee pain, so I therefore edited Wednesday’s YouTube video (Get Ready With Me for dinner with Katharine on Friday). I did some packing, mainly which things I will need in Boston until I head up to Maine again, which is where the rest of my things are heading. Knee got continuously worse.
Wednesday, August 6 // Finished packing as best I could.
Thursday, August 7 // Flew up to Boston. I spent most of the day crying and/or miserable.
I don’t have much of an update on the knee front. The doctor was supposed to see my today, but then he couldn’t squeeze me in. I already knew that I needed surgery, but now it’s looking more and more like that is going to be a reality (and hopefully a soon one). Either my knee is not fully back in its socket or I tore a ligament … or my cartilage exploded … I’m not sure. And I would say that I’m being dramatic about this, but I’m not, so I’m not going to say it. If any of you saw the crying girl in the airport with a gigantic knee splint yesterday, thanks for not saying anything.
