9 TV Shows To Watch This Fall

Autumn is my favorite time of year. Cooler temperatures before it’s unbearably cold, school without as much stress as finals, and, of course, fall television. There are a whole bunch of returning shows that I’m looking forward to this fall in a variety of categories, and there are several new shows that I’m interested in checking out, too. (PS – I’m having an ad sale through tonight! Head over to my Twitter to get the code for 50% off all ads.)

9 TV Shows To Watch

Shows I Can’t Wait To Return

1. Madame Secretary: Smart, clever, and wicked entertaining, this show reminds me a lot of The West Wing, which is one of my all-time favorite TV shows. Tea Leoni is brilliant as Secretary McCord. (Returns October 4)

2. The Royals: I’ve always loved royalty – and have probably read way too many books about it – and this show is completely up my alley. It’s dramatic to the extreme, and I love it. (Returns in November)

3. Empire: I didn’t get into Empire until it ended, and was blown away by how good it is. It’s not your usual drama, although it definitely has the family and romantic drama down pat. What really makes it stand out to me – other than the fascinating characters and excellent performances – is the insight it gives to the music industry. (Returns September 23)

4. Scandal: Do I really need to say more? If you’re wondering, yes, it is worth the hype. Go watch it on Netflix and thank me later. Or hate me for making you addicted. Whichever. (Returns September 24)

5. How To Get Away with Murder: Overarching storyline about a murder being committed, as well as the weekly storyline of several first-year law students interning for a high-profile defense attorney. Dean Thomas from the Harry Potter movies is the lead student (yes, I know that’s not his actual name) and Viola Davis is the high-profile attorney. My jaw hit the floor with how the first season ended and I can’t wait to see what happens next! (Returns September 24)

6. Sleepy Hallow: I have to admit that I didn’t watch the second season at all, but my former roommate and I were obsessed with the first season. Mystery, fantasy, and history combine for an incredibly entertaining show, and I hope to get back into it this year! (Returns October 1)

New Shows I’m Looking Forward To

1. Code Black: This looks like an interesting medical drama, and hopefully it won’t break my heart like Grey’s Anatomy did. (Premiers September 30)

2. Quantico: There’s a crime element, there’s a mystery element, and it looks like there might be some romantic drama, too. Basically, it seems right up my alley. Hopefully it turns out as good as it looks! (Premiers September 27)

3. Scream Queens: I’m not a scary movie person at all, so I’ve never been able to watch American Horror Story, although I like reading information about the plot because it’s never boring. Since Scream Queens is supposed to be like American Horror Story with less horror and more comedy – it’s also by the creator of AHS – I hope that I’ll be able to watch it without being terrified. (Premiers September 22)

What shows are you looking forward to this fall?

I really need to catch up on How to Get Away With Murder. I started watching it, and then got busy and just never caught up. I’ve heard really good things! I think I’m more of a ‘binge watch it on netflix’ after kind of girl than ‘watch it week to week’.

Oh Nashville is also a good one! I watched the first season when it came out (especially since I lived in Nashville at the time). I also accidentally got in one season haha because they were filming in the area of one of my favorite coffee shops.

I love Scandal and the Royals! Although, I do have the very last Scandal ep of last season to watch. I started Madam Secretary, but didn’t keep up with it. I wonder if I can stream it somewhere. I get excited for fall TV too!

Madam Secretary is so good! But what’s also great about it is that while it has an overarching storyline, each episode has their own plot, so you would probably be able to start watching again and be able to follow along!

I've been spending a fair amount of time at my foo I've been spending a fair amount of time at my foot surgeon's office this year, and boy has it been messing with my head. ⁣
⁣
I spent a lot of time from 2001-2010 dealing with my left foot. Long story short, it took until this foot surgeon saw me in 2010 after fixing this foot for me to be diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. But I spent those 9 years going from doctor to doctor, having surgery after surgery, trying to figure out what was causing my pain and to fix it. ⁣
⁣
Was it the tarsal coalition? Did I have another chronic health issue? Etc. ⁣
⁣
I spent from age 10 to 19 unsure what exactly was wrong with me and in huge amounts of pain. We thought we figured it out, and then something else happened. ⁣
⁣
We know exactly what is wrong with this foot this time around: in 2024, I got 3 stress fractures, and no one put me in a boot. They almost fully healed before breaking in 2025, and then the same thing happened in 2026. ⁣
⁣
This is a different part of the foot than I used to deal with, but any problems with my feet and especially my left foot messes with me. While this doctor eventually fixed the problems and even got me diagnosed with RA, every time I go back to his office, I have to fight not to become 17 again. ⁣
⁣
PTSD is a bitch.⁣
⁣
(PS - if you want to know why I'm going back to this guy when it messes with me, it's because I don't trust anyone else to fix my foot.)⁣

There are a lot of medical advancements that I'm g There are a lot of medical advancements that I'm grateful for, but one of them is the ability to do IVIG at home. ⁣
⁣
I'm on IVIG - or, in my case, subcutaneous immunoglobulin replacement therapy - because I have to kill the better part of my immune system. There are, in fact, some parts of my immune system that don't attack me, which is why we add them back in. This helps reduce my chance of serious infection and also made my rheumatologist feel comfortable enough to increase my Rituxan dose. ⁣
⁣
This is a weekly treatment that I do, but it's so much better that I can do it at home than going into the hospital. It takes around 2.5 hours from taking my pre-meds to tossing my needles into a Sharps container. While it's another thing that I have to do, because I do it at home, I don't have to risk exposure to infections at the hospital or deal with Boston traffic, which would add another hour to the process. ⁣
⁣
I can finish my treatment and then go about my day, which I'm very grateful for.⁣

The last two weeks were prepping for my infusion, having/recovering from my infusion, and getting caught up after. This meant things were very busy but also I don’t have a lot to show for them.

1️⃣ New glasses! I really like having multiple pairs so I can switch them as I want.
2️⃣ One of my current projects. I got this standing hoop for my birthday and I’m working on an alphabet (uppercase and lower, although I’m still working on the lower) with extra floss.
3️⃣ Infusion time! I got my higher dose so hopefully my symptoms improve a lot in the upcoming weeks🤞🏻
