Living with chronic pain is hard enough. But something I’ve learned over the last 20 years of living with it is that certain clothes can make your pain even worse. Whether your are looking for yourself or someone else, in this post I’m sharing fantastic clothes for the chronic pain warrior in your life. These are clothes that are super comfortable and most of them are things that I own!

Clothes for the Chronic Pain Warrior: Work
These are all clothes that could work if you’re in-person! I’m remote (and my company is remote until further notice) and I wear these all regularly. I have found that the brand Wit & Wisdom makes fantastically comfortable pants. I mean, so incredibly comfortable. I have 2 pairs and highly recommend them, especially if you have back or hip pain.
I’m also a huge fan of comfortable sweaters and simple t-shirt dresses. I really like the t-shirt dress from Target’s Universal Thread because of how simple and comfortable it is. Depending on your company, that might not work for in-person work, but it’s so comfy and easy to dress up.
Here I am, wearing some of the clothes above on Thanksgiving 2020.
Clothes for the Chronic Pain Warrior: Lounging
Let’s be real: this is the category that most of us are in most of the time. I’ve linked some of my favorite leggings, joggers, t-shirts, and more. My most common outfit is some combination of those clothes!
Here I am wearing those Altheta leggings and a similar cardigan back in October 2020. I was at the beginning of my extreme pain episodes in this picture, and I had no idea how much time I would spend wearing variations of this outfit that month. (Also featuring Abby!)
Clothes for the Chronic Pain Warrior: Anything in Between
These are the things that you might not think about but can be totally necessary if you have chronic pain: compression gear and bras without underwire. Compression socks can benefit people with dysautonomia like POTS, but compression gear as a whole also benefits people with inflammation. I’m wearing compression gloves as I type this right now! And anyone who wears bras and has chronic back pain or something similar knows how brutal underwire can be on our pain levels. This lie doesn’t have any!

I’ve heard great things about Wit & Wisdom before, but I’ve never tried their pants. I’ll have to check them out because I’m always on the hunt for comfortable pants!

I’m so glad you included bras because the struggle to find a comfortable one especially when you have back pain is real. Sometimes I wear a sports bra to work just because I can’t wear going through a day wearing a “real” bra.

Cuddlduds thermal stretch leggings are sooo awesome for fibro / sensory issues. I love them!!! (Not their “stretch thermal”. Those are no good)
Thx for list!

Everyone can benefit from comfy clothes! I love wearing leggings and loose-fitting tops. I also really appreciate you including bras. I am lucky to have found some underwires that don’t cause me pain, but there are still days that I need something a little easier to wear.

I have chronic pain in my hips and back and find loose fitting clothes the best for me so I don’t understand how you all can handle the tight clothing.
